Medicare Supplement (Medigap)

Medicare Supplement, also known as Medigap Plans, are insurance plans that work with Original Medicare to cover the balance of any Medicare approved services you may receive that you would normally have to pay.  This includes things such as deductibles, coinsurance, and copays. Medicare Supplement plans do require a monthly premium, and are a good option for those who would rather have predictable out-of-pocket expenses for Medicare Covered Services.

Medicare Supplement Plans may be a good option for those who:

  * Want Nationwide Coverage / Travel outside of their home area

  * Want the freedom to choose their own doctors and hospitals

  * Do not want co-pays (available on select plans)

  * Do not want changes in medical benefits each year

Medicare Supplement plans do not offer Prescription Drug coverage, so you will also need to purchase a separate stand-alone prescription drug plan for your medications.  It is also important to know that Medicare Supplements do not offer dental, vision, or hearing coverage.  Since Medicare itself does not cover these additional services, your supplement cannot pay anything towards them.
